There are following ways to control the spam (unsolicited) emails.
- Enable DKIM, SPF, DMARC records
- Configure SpamAssassin
- Create Filters
- Remove unwanted forwarders
- Collect repetitive spam emails and forward us in one attachment
1. Enable DKIM, SPF, DMARC records
SPF, DKIM and DMARC are email authentication methods to check that senders are truly authorized to send email from a particular domain. This is done to prevent someone else from sending emails on behalf of you by using your domain address. You can setup these records from Cpanel > Email Deliverability in order to detect and fight against spoofed, or fake sender email addresses.
2. Configure SpamAssassin
SpamAssassin is a tool that filters the spam messages automatically based on spam characteristics.
If the score of the incoming message is higher than the value you have determined (by default, the score set in SpamAssassin is 5), the tool will “tell” the mail server to either delete the message or mark it as spam. You may adjust the score from obvious spam to aggressive Cpanel > Spam Filters.
3. Create Filters
You may create filters to discard incoming emails from unwanted email address or domain and If the email/domain changes everytime then you may consider placing filters on similar subjects and body text.
4. Remove unwanted Forwarders
If there are unwanted forwarders placed to your email address then we advise your to consider them removing because it will welcome those spam emails which does not belong to you.
5. Collect repetitive spam emails and forward us in one attachment
You may create a folder “Junk Emails” and move all spam emails in that folder for upcoming 1-2 weeks, once the folder fills with more than 100 emails then you may forward them as attachments in one email to helpdesk@xperts.net.pk. Our team will review all spam emails one by one and will create filters on the server to discard similar emails.
